Third-graders in Stacey Reedy’s class at Pulaski Road Elementary School created their own rainforest on June 13, to showcase their projects on protecting the animals who inhabit it.

For about two and a half months, the students learned about the rainforest and researched a specific animal that lives there. They created a poster board and shoebox diorama with their findings. As part of a culminating activity, the class transformed their classroom into a rainforest, shutting the lights and hanging paper leaves and branches around the room.

Each student had their own station where they set up their projects for faculty members and their peers to enjoy. Dressed like animal experts, the students shared their research on their animal’s habitat, diet, life cycle and behavior. They also discussed interesting facts and encouraged viewers to ask questions.
