At Norwood Elementary School, librarian Linda Dickman is always looking for new ways to get students excited about reading. A project she recently presented her students with was creating a book trailer—a short video to make viewers want to read the book they’ve just read.

The fifth-graders from Ms. Jane Pastorelli’s class were very excited to tackle this project. After drawing out a physical storyboard, students worked on computers to digitally create their visions for the project.

Each student had a special connection with the book they chose, and explained why they wanted others to read it.
Grace from Ms. Pastorelli’s class chose the book “You Are My I Love You.”

“I chose this book because it was the only thing that used to calm me down when I was little,” said Grace, “and it still makes me happy.”

“I chose the ‘Stamp Collector’ because it’s a true story,” said fifth-grader Verena. “And true stories are sometimes more exciting than made-up ones.”
