Two outstanding students were recognized at the May 4th Board of Education meeting. Students Lauren Trebour and Matthew Rooney were named Health Student of the Month and Physical Education Student of the Month, respectively.

Senior Lauren Trebour is a dedicated and exceptional student who has taken and excelled in each sports medicine class offered at Northport High School, is instrumental in the high school’s continual success of the CPR/AED Awareness Day, and has been committed to her role as the athletic training student for the past two years. Applauded for her diligence and enthusiasm, Lauren was selected as Health Student of the Month and presented to the Board.

“Lauren starts school early each year to ensure the safety of all our student athletes,” said Athletic Director Mark Dantuono, “and throughout the year is at every practice, every game, no matter the weather, and it’s that kind of dedication that brings success in life.”

Senior Matthew Rooney is a positive, encouraging force within his physical education classes, and is always eager to give his best in every unit of instruction. Along with success in physical education, Matthew works hard in academics, and is a resourceful student who is always seeking the best way to solve challenges. Praised by his teachers for his hard working and bright nature, Matthew was selected and presented to the board as this month’s Physical Education Student of the Month.
