East Northport Middle School and Northport Middle School were recognized by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) as “No Place for Hate Schools.” Each school sent student and staff representatives from their No Place for Hate Committees to the recognition ceremony on May 24 to receive the awards and a banner for each school. Earlier this year, both schools participated in the Heart of Huntington Student Summit, and completed three school-wide activities to gain this recognition.

The ADL is committed to making steps towards a hate-free world and seeks to implement anti-bias educational programs in schools to teach students to be inclusive and unprejudiced. Over 1,600 schools nation-wide have joined this movement.
