The American Revolution Comes to Life

To wrap up a unit on the American Revolution, fourth graders at Bellerose Avenue Elementary spent the morning of June 12 as members of a living museum! Each student was given the opportunity to choose three historical figures they’d like to research. Once each child was assigned one figure, they rigorously began researching and creating a slide presentation encompassing as much of their figure as possible. In addition to the interactive report, each student prepared a one to two minute in-character speech for “museum-goers”, made up of teachers, other grade levels, and loved ones.

Students enjoyed learning about historical figures in depth in a fun, new way.

“I chose Lydia Darragh because she was such a brave woman,” said fourth-grader Emma. “She risked her life to become a Patriot spy.”
