Earlier today, September 4, a student at Northport High School was struck by a car while crossing Laurel Hill Road in front of the school prior to the start of an athletic practice. In order to protect the privacy of the family, the district is unable to provide any additional details concerning the status of the student. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student and we will support him and his family in any way needed. We will also cooperate with the Suffolk County Police Department as they conduct their investigation of the accident.

As school begins for our students on Thursday, September 6, the district reminds all residents to please drive carefully as our buses and student-pedestrians will be back on the roads. Keeping our students safe as they travel to/from school and school-related events is a top priority of the district. Let us work together as a community to ensure the safety of all of our students throughout the year ahead.
