Congratulations to Northport High School students Josh D'Souza, Bryan Avila and Anne Mara, and Northport Middle School student James Young, for being selected to participate in the Institute of Creative Problem Solving at SUNY Old Westbury for the 2019-2020 season.
The Institute of Creative Problem Solving is supported by the college’s mathematics department along with several local math teachers’ associations. During the academic year, the organization hosts mathematical problem-solving workshops to high-performing students in grades 5 through 10. This year, only 84 students were chosen, according to Robin Rann, the district’s chairperson of mathematics.
“It’s quite an honor to be selected for the program,” she said.
