Northport High School alumnus Tommy Thall was recently
featured on a new series of career videos by the Long Island STEM Hub,
titled, "Full STEM Ahead Long Island."
The STEM Hub is an organization consisting of industry, academic and
not-for-profit volunteers working to advance STEM education on Long
Island.
This video series will serve as inspiration for other local
students, parents and educators to pursue rewarding careers in
STEM-related industries here on Long Island.
In this video, at approximately 6:15, Tommy talks about his
time working with composites to shape surf boards as an employee at
Nature Shapes in Sayville. He credited his interest in the field to
courses he took during his time at Northport High School, including
Project Lead the Way.
A new video will be released each month highlighting varying
STEM industries. This first episode, “Crushin’ it with Composites,” was
already nominated for a New York Emmy Award.
