Northport-East Northport students, teachers, staff and community members gathered at Northport High School’s St. Baldrick’s event on March 6 to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research and treatment.
As of March 13, the community raised more than $71,000 for the cause and pledged to raise more than $100,000 next year. Top teams included East-Northport Middle School Bald Tigers, NMS Bald Eagles and Bellerose Fuzzballs.
As donations poured in, hundreds of supporters walked on stage to have their heads shaved. Those who did received a hand-knitted hat and St. Baldrick’s t-shirt to forever honor the cause to fight childhood cancer.
