On March 9, fifth grade students in the district’s Investigate Gifted and Talented program met with community resident, Debbi Mayer, a retired Federal Bureau of Investigation agent.
Ms. Mayer covered many interesting topics relating to her job, including education and training, evidence gathering, criminal investigations and special agent training. She also discussed many of her cases dealing with high profile fraud cases in New York and Long Island. She even brought some of her security equipment, which students were able to experiment with.
The students from across the district’s elementary schools have spent a good portion of this year studying and conducting various experiments in forensic science. The students were enthralled with Ms. Mayer’s expertise and commitment to the FBI agency.
