The 2020-2021 school year at Northport-East Northport Union Free School District kicked off with happy students and eager parents. September 10th and 11th marked the first days for students returning to school under the district’s hybrid instructional model, with half the students beginning on Thursday and the remaining students starting on Friday. Students arrived and even through their masks, the excitement and joy of being reunited with friends and teachers was evident.
Upon arrival, students were immediately welcomed by teachers and school staff, who directed them to their classrooms and walked them through the new school protocols. From little ones showing off their first day outfits to 6th and 9th graders becoming acquainted with their new buildings, every student showed enthusiasm for the return.
“We’re incredibly proud of our students and their resilience as they head into this new year,” shared Superintendent of Schools Robert Banzer. “We know that things may look different, but the energy and excitement of first day is exactly the same.”.
