Congratulations to our varsity field hockey team, who ended their undefeated season by cinching the Class A State Final!

The Northport High School field hockey team has proven that when their heart, hard work and talent come together, nothing can stop them. The team took home the New York State Class A championship following an undefeated 21-0 season, just one day after defeating Clarence High School in the NYS class A semifinals.

Olivia McKenna scored the only goal of the game with an assist from Shannon Smith, securing the 1-0 win.

This win was especially meaningful for the team, who captured the Long Island championship last season but did not have the opportunity to play a state championship due to the pandemic. The team coined the hashtag “#NotDoneYet” to signify that they weren’t finished with their domination of the sport and winning streak.

“This team encompasses what it means to be a Northport High School Tiger athlete,” shared Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Mark Dantuono. “They play their hearts out and their undefeated record reflects that. The commitment of their coaches, their parents and of course, the students themselves is what makes this team extraordinary.”
