Sophia Bica’s success on and off the field and basketball court has landed her the News12 Long Island. As a senior and member of the undefeated Northport High School field hockey team, Sophia has shown tremendous heart for her sport, her team, and also her studies. The $1,000 scholarship is provided by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.  

During the Fall 2021 field hockey season, Bica scored in every single game, helping the Tigers go undefeated and securing the New York State Class A championship. She is also a point guard for the girls’ basketball team and has an impressive academic record.  

As News12’s Scholar Athlete, Sophia will be featured on the network. She hopes to become a physician’s assistant and is looking forward to attending college next year.
