On Saturday, May 14th the Long Island Woodturners Association (LIWA) in collaboration with Northport High School’s Technology & Engineering Department sponsored the 1st Bob Storch woodturning workshop for beginners.  Master turners from LIWA worked with over twenty-five high school students, parents, faculty, and staff to foster the art of woodturning.
In addition to being a tremendous learning opportunity for all, the event also honored Bob Storch, one of the original founders of LIWA who passed earlier this year. The four-hour event was a tremendous success as participants selected their own pen and bowl blanks and engaged in their very first wood lathe experience! At the conclusion of the event, participants could bring their creations home as a token of their hard work and craftsmanship.
