Students throughout the Northport-East Northport School District found ways to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. From reading about famous Hispanics and highlighting their literature in the libraries, to reading the morning announcements in Spanish, students took time during the month the learn about the unique culture and language.

At the high school and middle schools, libraries had books by Hispanic authors and about influential Hispanics displayed throughout. Bulletin boards and clubs also found opportunities to highlight the occasion. At Pulaski Road School, students decorated the hallways with artwork that included quotes from Hispanic authors, like designer Oscar de la Renta and baseball player Roberto Clemente.

At Norwood Avenue, two Hispanic students volunteered to read the morning announcements in Spanish. Fourth graders Alliz and Brandon were given the chance to share a piece of their culture with peers through this opportunity, which they enjoyed.  Great job, Tigers!
