All four of Northport High School’s National Merit Semifinalists have advanced as finalists in this year’s competition. Seniors Nicholas Crafa, Joshua D’Souza, John Dwyer and Zoe Meadows earned this recognition through their tremendous academic and extracurricular achievements.  
Nick Crafa is awaiting final responses from his top schools and plans to major in pre-med. Josh D’Souza will be attending Stony Brook University and majoring in computer science, John Dwyer is headed to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to major in environmental engineering and Zoe Meadows has committed to Duke University and will major in biomedical engineering.
The National Merit Finalist process is highly competitive and is determined based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service record, leadership, employment experience and more.
“These students continue to push themselves to achieve at the highest levels and we are so proud of their accomplishments,” said Rob Dennis, Principal of Northport High School. “I have no doubt they are going to have amazing success as they continue their educational careers.”
Students anticipate that the final National Merit Scholars will be announced in the coming weeks.
