Scholarship Application Packet Many local community organizations and individual families are generously offering scholarships to Northport High School graduating seniors. Students wishing to apply must print out the application packet, complete it and submit it with all supporting documents to Mrs. Lucia in the Counseling Center no later than March 3, 2010. Click here to download the packet. Advanced Placement Test Registration All students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses are required to sit for the appropriate exam. Registration for AP Exams begins on Monday, February 1st and ends on Friday, February 5th. Click here for more information.

| STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS RAISE MONEY FOR HAITI VICTIMS | |||||||||
![]() Student groups, Amnesty International and Students for 60,000 raised money and awareness for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL:
The students members of Northport High Schools' Amnesty International
organized a fundraiser that raised $835 which was sent to the American Red
Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The members of Amnesty
international are honored to say that they've done a small part in raising
money for the people of Haiti after the earthquake that left the nation in
desperate need of food, water, shelter, clothing, and medical aid.

| A MIDWINTER NIGHT'S DREAM STUDENT'S RING THE CLOSING BELL AT THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE | |||||||||

Northport High School students were invited to ring
the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, February 3,
2010. These students all members of the Midwinter Night's Dream
committee helped raise $1.5 million dollars for ALS research. |

| NORTHPORT STUDENTS RAISE $421,000 FOR ALS RESEARCH | |||||||||
![]() A group of 42 high school students raised $421,000 to benefit ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) research. Now in its sixth year, the annual fundraising event has generated a total of nearly $1.5 million for ALS research.

| NORTHPORT STUDENTS COMPETE IN DECA COMPETITION | |||||||||
|
Northport High School DECA business students competed at the Suffolk County
Regional Competition on Wednesday January 6, 2010. They competed in a host
of categories including Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Economics, Human
Resources and Job Interview.
Many of
the
DECA students qualified for the State Competition in Rochester, New York,
this March. Congratulations to all who participated. |

| NORTHPORT CULINARY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN OPERATION SANTA PAWS | |||||||||

Ms. Mayer's culinary classes launched OPERATION SANTA PAWS, collecting
donations for four legged friends at the Huntington Animal Shelter. High
school students and faculty donated pet food, dog/cat toys, unwanted towels
and bedding, while her classes raised funds to baked holiday dog treats
which were distributed at the shelter in time for Christmas. |

| NORTHPORT STUDENTS AND TEACHERS VISIT PILGRIM STATE HOSPITAL | |||||||||

On December 18, 2009 more than 100 students and teachers traveled to Pilgrim
State Hospital for the annual "Holiday Visit". The Social Studies
Department of Northport High School sponsors the visit as a way of providing
students valuable community service and core civic values. To make the visit
successful, students needed to fundraise, gather gifts, organize
entertainment, wrap presents, prepare snacks and refreshments which were
then shared with the patients. The annual visit was organized by faculty
members Mr. Richard Castellano and Mr. Sandy Scarpinito with assistance from
Mr. Dewan Bajaj, Ms. Janine Mantell, Ms. Claire Moore, Ms. Kerry Staudigal
and Mr. Anthony Ferrandino. |

STUDENTS CREATE HIGH SCHOOL JAPANESE GARDEN |

|
Last Spring high school students in our Japanese program designed a Japanese meditation garden. The students constructed a "peace" garden using typical Japanese elements, to be enjoyed in all seasons by language students and all who pass, and in recognition of Northport's longstanding Japanese program. Kirei desu nee! |

| A Midwinter Night's Dream Places in the Top 100 Charities | |||||||||

Midwinter Night's Dream finished in the Top 100 charities on the
Chase Community Giving Facebook Challenge and won $25,000!
Congratulations to our students and alumni for getting the message
out to vote. The next voting round will being on January 15. During
this round, the first place winner will receive one million dollars.
The second - sixth place winners will receive $100,000 for their
charity. Congratulations! |
