At the Nov. 21 meeting of the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District Board of Education, the Board recognized Northport High School senior Evan Liu as the Rotary Student of the Year for Mathematics. 

Evan was selected for this honor through a process that included numerous recommendations from staff in the Northport High School Math Department and for his outstanding performance in all areas of mathematics. 

“Evan is the type of student that comes around once a decade,” said Northport High School math teacher Anthony Perico. “He is a critical thinker and problem solver, he loves math, he has a passion for math and he loves to understand why things are the way they are.”
