For East Northport Middle School teacher Glenn Kubik, winning second place in the Teacher’s Federal Credit Union Teacher Appreciation Week contest was an opportunity to contribute to a cause close to his heart. The second place win in the 6-8 category earned him a $1,500 classroom grant as well as swag for his students. Mr. Kubik decided to donate the entirety of his award to the Caleb Paquet Scholarship Fund, which provides funds each year to students either in need of therapeutic services or who are pursuing a path outside of the traditional college or university.
“Once I found out I was able to donate the money towards a scholarship, it was a no brainer for me. I’m just honored to know Caleb and his family and their strength and courage,” said Mr. Kubik.
The annual contest allows community members to vote for their teachers who are making a difference in the lives of students and their communities. This year’s contest had over 5,000 votes cast.
Congratulations, Mr. Kubik!
