Superintendent Search
10/12/2023
Dear Northport-East Northport Community,
We are pleased to share that at yesterday evening’s Special Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed Dr. Dave Moyer as Superintendent of Schools, effective January 2, 2024.
Dr. Moyer has been serving as the superintendent of the Arlington Central School District in LaGrangeville, NY, for the past two years. He has 26 years of experience as a public school administrator, including 14 as a superintendent.
During his time in Arlington, the district was named to the 2023 AP Honor Roll and developed its “Portrait of a Graduate” as part of his major community engagement effort, Arlington Connect. Arlington High School also joins the Northport-East Northport High School as a Special Olympics National Banner Unified Champion School. Recently, Dr. Moyer was recognized by the Poughkeepsie-Arlington Rotary Club for his commitment to the education of the community’s children.
Prior to coming to New York, Dr, Moyer served as a superintendent in Illinois and Wisconsin, most recently in Elmhurst, IL, from 2015-2021. Dr. Moyer was named an Illinois Superintendent of Distinction in the State of Illinois in 2015. Under his leadership, Elmhurst was recognized by the Illinois Association of Curriculum Supervision and Instruction as the top district in the State for Whole Child Education in 2019.
Dr. Moyer is committed to the principles of whole-child education with an emphasis on equity and personalized learning. He frames his leadership style as inclusive and he will engage stakeholders throughout the Northport-East Northport school community in making decisions that support better outcomes for all students.
We also want to acknowledge the work of Superintendent Banzer over the past eight years. We are thankful for his leadership and his passion for the community will surely be missed.
We are confident that Dr. Moyer will embrace our community and continue to focus on our district mission to ‘Educate, inspire and empower all students to pursue their aspirations and contribute as responsible members of society.’
Dr. Moyer and his wife will be joining the Northport-East Northport community with their dog Juliet as residents in the coming months. Opportunities for the community to meet and hear from Dr. Moyer will be forthcoming.
Thank you for your attention to this important announcement.
Respectfully,
The Northport-East Northport Board of Education

One of the most critical responsibilities of any school board is to thoughtfully recruit and select a Superintendent of Schools. Finding the right person to lead our District going forward is a task we take very seriously. We plan to use this space to keep you informed of the process as it unfolds and to solicit your input.
To recruit a strong pool of applicants and assist the Board in selecting the best candidate for our District, the Board has retained the services of International Deliverables, LLC and its consultants, Drs. Teresa Lawrence and Thomas Ramming. International Deliverables, LLC, was one of four firms that responded to our Request for Proposals for a search consultant. We found them exceptionally well qualified to meet the unique needs of our District. In consultation with Drs. Lawrence and Ramming, we agreed that our search process needs to be transparent while keeping in mind that confidentiality is essential to recruiting high-quality, successful candidates.
To achieve this, the Board, in keeping with Long Island Schools, chose to conduct a closed search that includes building a collaborative-based, open, and transparent school community leadership profile among all district stakeholders that preserves potential applicants' confidentiality. In a closed Search, our consultants and the boards will initially screen and meet with selected individuals. The Board will interview all semi and final-round candidates. We will use the leadership profile as our guidepost in the selection process for an experienced, proven, and dynamic leader who will build on what makes our District strong and lead us to even greater heights.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, the Board met with search consultants Drs. Lawrence and Ramming to discuss the Superintendent Search process's timeline and identify stakeholder groups who will participate in input sessions scheduled for May 15 and 16. We will also distribute a school-community-wide survey, ensuring input from all stakeholders relative to the leadership skill sets of our next Superintendent in response to the challenges and opportunities we have in front of us. The survey is open from May 2 to May 19. We urge community members and stakeholders to share their voices by responding to the survey.
Stakeholder focus groups are scheduled to meet in person with consultants Drs. Lawrence and Ramming on May 15 and 16, 2023.
Whether you are or are not participating in one of the face-to-face sessions, everyone is encouraged to take the Community Input Survey.
Finally, we aim to appoint a new superintendent in early October of 2023, with a start date on or about January 1, 2024.
Thank you for your welcome input and interest in this process. Please continue to check back on this webpage for ongoing updates.
Respectfully,
The Northport-East Northport Board of Education
