School Schedules


Elementary and secondary school schedule descriptions have been created for the implementation at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Both hybrid and remote models are described in more detail in this link: Click Here

For the 2020-2021 school year only, all K-12 students will be divided into two cohorts and attend school for in-person instruction two days per week, coupled with three days per week of online learning. Students in the Blue Group will attend school in-person on Monday and Thursday, with remote learning on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Students in the Gold group will attend school in–person on Tuesday and Friday, with remote learning on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. See below for the September schedule:

Wednesdays will be taught remotely using the synchronous learning model.

Note: If there is a holiday during the week, there will be no remote learning day that week. Wednesday becomes a face-to-face learning day. (See week of September 28 in the diagram above)

ELEMENTARY SCHEDULE (K-5)

HYBRID LEARNING:

In the HYBRID learning model, 50% of K-5 students will be on campus learning, while 50% of students will be engaged in remote instruction.

Each classroom will be divided (by alpha) into 2 groups. This will create 2 distinct cohort groups, referred to as Blue group and Gold group; each group will be on campus on an alternating basis, every other day.

When on campus (In-Person Instruction), students will follow their regular schedule for the entire day. The left-hand column in the chart below shows a sample schedule for in-person instruction. Specials will be taught in the general education classrooms in order to minimize travel time in the hallways for students. Students will have lunch in the classroom. Recess and PE will be outdoors as much as possible. 

When remote, students will engage in daily synchronous lessons with a Northport-East Northport UFSD certified elementary teacher. This will include a morning meeting, and lessons in Math and ELA. A sample schedule for a remote day is below in the right-hand column. Students will also be able to work on assignments and/or online applications as assigned by the classroom teacher during their previous in-person day. See sample schedule below:

IN-PERSON LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS:

All students will attend school for their regularly scheduled school day. Adjustments to the in-school schedule will be made as needed to accommodate the required health & safety guidelines which will be communicated to families. See sample schedule below:

ELEMENTARY SCHEDULE (Grades K-5)

REMOTE LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS:

All students will follow a distance learning program that will be completely online. Students will engage in daily synchronous lessons with their classroom teacher.

Elementary students will follow a similar schedule remotely as they would follow within the school building. Classroom teachers will provide a specific schedule and confirm the regular meeting times for Google Meets with the class for core instruction, small groups, and specials.

 Students will participate in daily live Morning Meetings, English Language Arts and Mathematics lessons. Asynchronous (teacher recorded) lessons will take place as well. See sample schedule below:

SECONDARY SCHEDULE (Grades 6-12)

HYBRID LEARNING

Students will attend in person either Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be a remote learning day for both Blue and Gold groups. Synchronous learning will take place on Wednesdays during abbreviated classes and attendance will be taken Monday through Friday for all students.
