The New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) represent a significant paradigm shift in the approach to teaching science. Students will construct understandings by engaging in science and engineering practices as they explore and explain phenomena and design solutions. Please see the recent Parent University Powerpoint below as well as the additional attachments providing literature from the NSTA regarding the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These resources present the three dimensional architecture of the NYSSLS/NGSS and delve into our school district’s transition plan to align and implement these recently adopted standards into our instructional program in elementary and middle school science and technology education.
