Juniors enrolled in the Northport High School Academy of Finance had their interview skills put to the test prior to getting started on their summer internships. Students participated in the Class of 2024 mock interviews on February 15 with members of the Academy of Finance Board as well as school and district officials.
To prepare for the interviews, students each created a resume that reflects their experience and qualifications. Business officials from various organizations including M&T Bank, Morgan Stanley, Henry Schein and more were in attendance to conduct the interviews and provide students with constructive feedback. Principal Robert Dennis and Assistant Superintendents Irene McLaughlin, Robert Howard and Dana Boshnack also supported the event by conducting interviews.
Juniors arrived well dressed and with copies of their resume in hand. They were asked a series of questions in hopes of impressing their potential future employers.
Academy of Finance Coordinator Allison Schwabish said “The students were well prepared, poised and quite professional throughout the event.” With regard to the volunteer interviewers, she added “We are very blessed to have such a strong network of individuals who consistently help make such a tremendous difference and impact in their future.”
Looking ahead, students will begin interviewing for their summer internships where they will gain real world business experience and be able to build their resumes for the future.
