On Wednesday, April 27, 120 sophomore and junior Academy of Finance business students participated in a professional business etiquette lunch.  The students dressed professionally and practiced skills such as giving a proper handshake, setting a table, dining etiquette, engaging in conversation and tying a tie.
Twenty two students participated in a tie-tying contest and winners were chosen by our guest speakers from the multinational accounting firm Deloitte.  Both guest speakers shared their experiences on business lunches, interviews and internships with the students.  They shared stories and tips on the importance of proper etiquette, professionalism and treatment of the host and wait staff.
Linda Furey from Junior Achievement of New York coordinated the Deloitte guest speakers.  A lunch consisting of pasta, salad and bread was generously provided by La Porta on Main Street in Northport. The event was hosted by the Northport High School business teachers and supported in part by DECA, the school store and Business Honor Society.
