Congratulations to Benjamin Herbert, Art Student of the Month and Julia Mescallado, Music Student of Month. Both of these students are exceptional in their respective areas, having won numerous awards and being integral members of the departments for which they are recognized. 

Benjamin is a respected artist amongst his peers. Described as "brilliant" and a "Renaissance Man" by teachers, he has won numerous awards for his artwork including "Best in Show" from the Huntington Arts Council's High Arts Showcase. 

Julia is equally accomplished, and was selected this year for the National Association for Music Education’s All-National Honor Ensemble for band. She plays the snare drum and mallets and was selected for this prestigious recognition following her selection for All-State. 

Benjamin was honored during the May 5 Board of Education meeting and Julia was recognized during the Band, Tigerettes and Flagline Awards Banquet on May 11.
