Twenty-two Northport High School Business Students traveled to Rochester, NY, last week to compete at the DECA State Career Development Conference. They were joined by more than 2,500 competitors from Long Island and New York State.

Congratulations to Olivia Aguirre and the team of Samantha DeNisco and Maryn Larsen who placed in the top 10 in the role play and top 10 overall in their category.  Hugo Lerner placed in the top 10 in the test and role play 1.  Hannah Cho & Cody Goldner placed in the top 10 in the test, and Dylan Sofarelli placed in the top 10 in the role play.

The state qualifier took place in January at Suffolk County Community College.  All competitors at the state level took a 100 question written exam and are judged in at least one role play event where they solve a case problem.  DECA is a business club for students studying marketing, management, entrepreneurship and economics.
