The annual Revolutionary War reenactment has returned, as students from both East Northport Middle School and Northport Middle School got to experience the food, music, artillery and more artifacts from the 1700’s.
Members of war reenactment group Boots and Saddles visited Northport Middle School and arranged six stations, with groups of students rotating between them. From learning about traditional music from the time period to tasting commonly eaten candy, students got a first-hand idea of how people lived and worked at the time of the war. They also learned about both the American and British perspectives on the war and how the artillery of the time impacted the outcome.
A highlight of the day included learning how to prepare the canon, with students racing to see who could complete the process quickest.
