The GET SMArT program at Northport High School is hosting the Summer Science Research – UV Investigations course led by Northport High School Science Research Program Coordinator and Chemistry Scientific Investigations teacher Bryan Horan.

As part of the course, students entering ninth grade next school year explore the science of ultraviolet radiation in a one-week science research program where students work in small collaborative teams and engage in interactive activities designed to encourage them to think and act like a scientist as they investigate a mysterious and invisible part of the electromagnetic spectrum, ultraviolet (UV).

Along the way, students learn science research skills, design and conduct an original research investigation and use probe ware and experimental software to collect and analyze data. On the last day, student teams will have an opportunity to win awards and prizes as they present their research results to a panel of judges at the Science Fair.
