The Future Leaders Club at Pulaski Road Elementary School had the privilege of welcoming Officer Jinks from the Suffolk County Police Department as a special guest where he taught students the importance of flag etiquette, the history of the American flag and ways to honor it with respect.

As part of the visit Officer Jinks explained key historical dates and shared meaningful stories that deepened the students' appreciation for the flag as a symbol of our nation's unity and values. After his lesson, Officer Jinks engaged the students in a hands-on activity where they learned and practiced the proper way to fold the flag.

Taking the lesson outside, he demonstrated how to respectfully raise and lower the flag on the school’s flagpole, giving the students a sense of pride and responsibility in the task. With this new knowledge and practice, the Pulaski Road Elementary Future Leaders are now ready to take on the daily role of caring for the flag and leading the school community in the Pledge of Allegiance, honoring a tradition that connects them to their country.
